The Scent of Success: How My Boys’ Shvitz (sweat) Inspired a Business Revolution

Power Zone Member – Jackie Baron

“The creation of Neon Goat and my collaboration with Tory and her Power Zone community underscore a vital lesson: the importance of networks and the power of community. Surrounding myself with like-minded individuals is instrumental in the growth and success of Neon Goat. These connections, fostered through the Power Zone, have not only amplified my brand but have also reminded me of the critical, often overlooked, P in the traditional 4 P’s of marketing—People.”

This is her story:

In the bustling streets of Sydney, my ambition was as boundless as the horizon. Fueled by dreams and a relentless drive, I embarked on a journey that led me from the classrooms of Sydney and Canada to the high-octane world of advertising in New York City.

As an advertising Account Director at a global agency, I was in my element, thriving amidst the creativity and challenges of the industry. My life was a thrilling blend of ambition and achievement, a testament to the power of daring to dream big.

Yet, in the aftermath of traumatic world events in September 2001, my path took an unexpected turn. Returning home, I found love in the most unexpected of places, marrying a handsome lawyer three months after we met and embarking on the most rewarding venture of all: family.

My title evolved from a corporate badge to something far more personal and profound—Director of Family Matters. This new role didn’t come with a handbook, but it was filled with love, chaos, and the incomparable joy (most of the time!) of raising three children. A position and title that might not have been in vogue at the time, but for me – my priority.

My boys sparked an idea for a new product and business

The transition from the corporate world to the heart of family life was a journey of rediscovery, where professional ambitions gave way to personal fulfillments. Yet, the spark of entrepreneurship never dimmed. It reignited with a simple, everyday challenge: managing the lively, often stinky, adventures of active tween boys. The solution? Neon Goat, a vegan, cruelty-free, Australian-made body-care brand crafted specifically for growing boys, though its appeal is universal.

The inception of Neon Goat was more than just a business idea; it was (and still is) a heart-led mission. A mission to shine a neon light on our boys, often overlooked, yet always the greatest in our eyes. The name itself encapsulates this ethos—Neon for the bright light we see in them and must shine upon them, and Goat, an acronym for the Greatest Of All Time, reflecting the unconditional love and belief we have in our children, even in their most challenging moments.

This isn’t just about a product, it’s about redefining who I am

This journey of transformation wasn’t solely about creating a product; it was about redefining my purpose and reigniting my professional ambitions through the prism of family life. My venture into the world of entrepreneurship was bolstered by the inspiration drawn from Tory Archbold, a powerhouse in the PR world. Listening to her podcast was a pivotal moment, a reminder of the power of self-belief and the importance of stepping outside one’s comfort zone. Tory, along with a vibrant network of ambitious, supportive women, became a beacon of guidance, mentorship, and friendship, propelling me forward in my entrepreneurial journey.

The power of community fosters better business success

The creation of Neon Goat and my collaboration with Tory and her Power Zone community underscore a vital lesson: the importance of networks and the power of community. Surrounding myself with like-minded individuals is instrumental in the growth and success of Neon Goat. These connections, fostered through the Power Zone, have not only amplified my brand but have also reminded me of the critical, often overlooked, P in the traditional 4 P’s of marketing—People.

My journey through Neon Goat is so much more than just providing a solution to a practical problem; it’s about embedding sustainability, care, community and a deep-rooted sense of responsibility into my business model.

As I reflect on this journey, from the high-rise buildings of New York to the heartwarming chaos of family life and the entrepreneurial leap into Neon Goat, I’m reminded of the power of transformation, the importance of community, and the enduring impact of believing in oneself. Myself. My Neon Goat story is a testament to the fact that professional dreams can evolve into personal missions, and with the right support and self-belief, we can achieve greatness, not just for ourselves but for the world around us.

In sharing this story, my hope is to inspire others to embrace their journeys, to find the courage to step outside their comfort zones, and to recognise the invaluable role of community in achieving their dreams. Whether you’re a parent navigating the challenges of raising active boys or an aspiring entrepreneur looking to make a difference, remember that every journey is unique, and within every challenge lies the opportunity for growth, impact, and transformation.

Welcome to Neon Goat, where we sweat the big stuff, so you don’t have to.

About Jackie Baron, Founder, Neon Goat

For nearly 18 years, “Director of Family Matters “ has been on my business card. Being a mother has meant the world to me and has now given me not just a fulfilling, fantastic, sometimes frustrating family but a new chapter in my career. Neon Goat was born from having to schlep stinky kids from school to sport and orchestra to home. When my husband started spraying them with his Tom Ford cologne before letting them in the car, I had a lightbulb moment. Neon Goat was born. A vegan, cruelty-free, Australian made deodorant and body spray for active growing boys.
