My guest today is Kat John, Authenticity Coach, speaker and leader of the ZEROFKS movement. Kat is a real, raw and relatable woman on a powerful mission. She inspires people to look inside themselves and be the solution to their lives instead of the victim of their circumstances.
From childhood sexual abuse, bulimia, drug addiction, chronic pain, pain medication addiction and brain surgery, Kat’s life had hit rock bottom by her early 20’s. She became depressed, battled suicidal thoughts and felt like she was at a dead end.
It all changed when a neurology professor convinced her to shift her focus to the inside in order to help the outside.
Kat swapped medicine for meditation, started listening to and moving her body, practiced visualisation, listened to her inner voice and completely rewired her brain.
Ten months later, Kat John was unrecognisable. Now, knowing and owning her story, she helps others do the same through her coaching, speaking events, podcast and incredible presence on Instagram. Go check out her dance moves!

This movement has spread like wildfire, encouraging people all over the world to drop into their body and express themselves authentically.

[0:50]: ZEROFKS is a movement Kat created about 3 years ago. It’s about giving zero fucks to the thoughts you have in your own head about what you can or can’t do.
[2:45]: Kat went through hell trying to find herself. She did anything for approval until she couldn’t ignore the pain. At age 19, her opening to find herself began when she started to acknowledge past sexual abuse.
[5:05]: Kat started going to psychology and counselling sessions to own her story. Rather than being a victim to her story, she needed to own that she wanted to heal it.
[5:40]: While training to become a nurse, Kat started experiencing acute pain to the point where she couldn’t walk at 23 years old. 3 days later, she was told she needed brain surgery for a congenital disease that would turn her into a paraplygic.
[7:30]: After the operation, her nerves were damaged and the pain was horrendous.
[8:15]: After seeing a neurologist, she worked hard every day to visualise, feel and act toward freedom and health. Within 10 months, she had no more pain.
[10:40]: Desire started to spring up about how Kat wanted to live her life.
[11:30]: If you know your values, that’s a great compass for seeing if your life measures up to what you want.
[12:30]: If you don’t know the difference between the ego voice and the true voice, you will always be led by the ego voice, which is where the limiting beliefs lie.
[13:50]: Learn how to be with yourself and ask self enquiry questions that bring you to a place of freedom.
[16:15]: Get the stories out of why you think you can’t do something. Those things have nothing to do with your true outcome.
[17:50]: Kat loves Stella McCartney for what she stands for but she does it with integrity and consciousness.
